Core Magnetic Mechanics
Magnet Merge Puzzle: Unstable Attraction builds its challenge around a simple rule: same-sized magnets merge on contact, but every magnet also pushes and pulls on its neighbors. Opposite poles attract, identical poles repel, so a single drop can nudge the whole pile. The white safety line at the top of the board is the hard limit — cross it and the run ends. That combination of automatic merging and live magnetic interference is what separates this from a standard drop-and-stack puzzler.
Controls and Drop Planning
Before each drop, you rotate the current magnet above the board to choose its pole orientation. A tap-and-hold control scheme keeps the input simple, but the decision behind each drop is not. You are not just aiming at a gap; you are predicting how the existing magnets will react to the new arrival. A well-aligned drop can trigger a chain of merges that clears space and boosts your score, while a careless one can pull the pile sideways or upward toward the line.
Reading the Pile
Because magnetic forces act on every nearby piece, the board state matters more than any single move. Scanning the pile before dropping helps you spot merge pairs and identify which magnets are already under strain. Repulsion can be used deliberately to shove a magnet into a better position for a future merge, not just to avoid contact. Learning how different magnet sizes behave — how much they move, how strongly they attract — turns guesswork into planning.
Session Length and Replay
Runs can last a few minutes or stretch longer depending on how carefully you manage the stack. The physics simulation means no two boards develop the same way, so the same strategy will not always work twice. The clean visuals and responsive controls keep the focus on the puzzle itself, making it approachable for short breaks while still rewarding players who want to think several drops ahead.
