How a Turn Unfolds

Each turn gives you five dice and up to three rolls. After the first roll, you choose which dice to keep and which to re-roll. The same choice repeats after the second roll. Your final result must be placed into one of the scoring categories on the score sheet. Even if the roll matches nothing useful, you still have to assign it somewhere, which means every turn forces a decision about where to absorb a bad outcome.

Scoring Categories and Their Trade-Offs

The score sheet includes standard Yatzy combinations: Three of a Kind, Small Straight (1-2-3-4-5), Large Straight (2-3-4-5-6), Full House, and Yatzy (five of a kind). High-value categories like Yatzy or Large Straight are tempting early, but missing them leaves you with a zero in a slot you cannot use later. Low-value categories are easier to fill but cap your total. The game's strategy comes from deciding when to chase a big combination and when to lock in a modest score.

Where the Strategy Lives

Because each category can only be used once, the order you fill them matters. Early rounds often reward aggressive rolling for straights and full houses, while later rounds demand careful management of remaining slots. Tracking which categories are still open helps you avoid wasting a strong roll on a low-value slot. A zero in a difficult category is sometimes the better choice if it preserves a slot you can fill reliably later.

Presentation and Accessibility

The interface is clean and intuitive, with clear dice visuals and an easy-to-read score sheet. The design suits quick sessions or longer play, and the family-friendly approach makes it approachable for players of most ages. There is no timer pressure and no complex setup, so the focus stays on the dice and your decisions.
